This is cause and effect situation one has to face in this economic climate, delaying what could potential be a value-added way of working due to costs is a cross we have tobear with the NHS services.

Do we consunmers or patients not have a say in this decision making? Or are we suppose to leave with it and wait till they sort out their priorities in the long run…I hate to admit it but the health care system in the UK is slowly showing similarities to the health care in the developing world, the keyword is DELAY

Apparently, ok..accordng to a survey by McKinsey Quartely; the largest and fastest growing spending by Americans is on Outpatient care which means “same-day hospital care and visits to physicians’ offices”

Outpatient care

The high and fast-growing cost of outpatient care reflects a structural shift in the United States away from inpatient settings, such as overnight hospital stays. Today, the US system delivers 65 percent of all care in outpatient contexts, up from 43 percent in 1980, and well above the OECD average of 52 percent. In theory, this shift should help to save money, since fixed costs in outpatient settings tend to be lower than the cost of overnight hospital stays. In reality, however, the shift to outpatient care has added to—not taken away from—total system costs because of the higher utilization of outpatient care in the United States

The list is endless and information is overflowing….I am amazed how much publicity Web 2.0 is receiving, the hype is just too much…I am not shortlisted when it comes to online information, conferences, podcasts about Health care and use of Social media…which is great for me AND I am certainly not complaining about it..It just makes organising all my research as one a REAL NIGHTMARE…

Well I promise to keep you all updated as I have find anything interested to share with you all. As my Philosophy in life goes, to share is to gain; Knowledge is to be shared and tapping into the sources i.e. through conversing, networking, collaboration, books, Google etc. There is power in knowing and it is good food for the brain..Doctor’s order!

I would like your opinions what type of Social media tools will be “”Nice to have” as part of your role as either a patient or health professionals..

Ok…ill give you an example..The use of SECOND LIFE 3D virtual reality site where patient can meet their doctors online and share problems without an initial visit to the surgery or clinic.
